At 30 years old, Scotty McCreery has already lived a life most country artists only dream of—winning American Idol at just 17, scoring No. 1 hits on country radio, and building a loyal fanbase across the country. But despite the fame, awards, and fast-paced tours, Scotty remains refreshingly grounded—and in a recent interview, he opened up about who he really wants to meet, what fans can expect from his upcoming album, and why he’ll never leave North Carolina.
A Bucket List Meeting Still Waiting to Happen
You might think a chart-topping artist like Scotty has met all the stars by now—but one name still tops his list: Garth Brooks.
“I’ve looked up to Garth since I was a little kid,” Scotty shared. “The way he puts on a show, the way he treats fans—it’s next level. I’ve been lucky to meet a lot of my heroes, but I’d still love to shake Garth’s hand one day.”
It’s a fitting dream for a performer who’s often praised for his own fan connection, down-to-earth vibe, and electric live shows.
A New Album With Deeper Roots
Scotty also gave fans a peek into his new album, which he says will explore both his past and his present.
“This record is probably the most personal I’ve ever done,” he revealed. “It’s about growing up, becoming a dad, finding peace in who I am. It still has those fun, up-tempo moments, but there’s a lot of heart too.”
He hinted that one of the songs was inspired by his son Avery, born in 2022, and called fatherhood “the most beautiful challenge of my life.”
Why North Carolina Is Still Home
Even with fame calling from Nashville or L.A., Scotty McCreery proudly calls North Carolina home—and he’s not planning on changing that anytime soon.
“I married my high school sweetheart, we built a home here, and this is where I feel like myself,” he said. “I can go to the grocery store and not feel like a ‘celebrity.’ I just feel like Scotty.”
Whether he’s fishing on a quiet lake, writing songs on the back porch, or walking through downtown Raleigh, Scotty says his roots are what keep him focused and grounded.
“Country music is about real life—and this is mine.”
With a new album on the horizon, a dream meeting still ahead, and a firm grip on what matters most, Scotty McCreery is more than just a country star—he’s a man who knows who he is, where he comes from, and where he’s headed. And fans can’t wait to take that next step with him.
